Strangest And Epic Borders in The World

When you think of a border crossing you're probably visualizing passport control and that kind of thing but not all borders are like that, in fact, some are pretty darn strange. But there are some beautiful borders out there too like the one between Zimbabwe and Zambia where the border runs right through the waterfalls that's a dreamy kind of border, isn't it? Well, we've got 5 strange borders to share with you today so get comfortable and get ready to feast your eyes on some of the more interesting ways to get between two countries.

1: Pakistan vs India Border

Up first is the Pakistan Indian border often referred to as the international border.  It was first created in 1947 and ever since India and Pakistan gained independence the border has been a major site of conflict and war between the countries. In total it spans 2065 miles and it is truly one of the most dangerous borders in the world. What makes this border so interesting is that every evening before sunset the village of  Wagah has a flag-lowering ceremony and the Pakistan Rangers and India's border security force are the ones who do this.

It's a tradition that goes back to 1959 and both sides start the ceremony with battle calls which is basically them screaming then they proceed to do a bunch of kicks and dance moves while staring each other down. The ceremony ends with a handshake between the two head guards and that's when the crowd of tourists or whoever is watching goes wild, wow I'd love to see this it's pretty sweet that such a dangerous border has a ritual like this that really highlights the brotherhood between the two rival nations.

2: Netherlands-Belgium Border

I mean technically there's no formal border control between Belgium and the Netherlands seeing as how they're both parts of the Schengen area but they do still have a border of sorts that spans 280 miles long, you can basically walk between the two countries by stepping over some slabs marked with the letters B and NL and what makes it even funnier is that the border cuts right through the middle of a street even between some houses so if you live on that street which country do you actually live in.

The Belgian side is called Barlow Hertog and the dutch side is brawl Nassau but each side has enclaves that belong to the other side it's really very baffling I guess you could just go and put one foot in Belgium and one foot in the Netherlands.

3: Zambia And Zimbabwe

This one has to be the most epic border crossing in the world between Zambia and Zimbabwe, which runs the Zambezi river that creates a natural order between the two countries. To cross from one country to the next you have to go over the magnificent victoria falls bridge not a bad way to get between countries.

Being able to view the incredible Vic falls waterfall, but decision time! which side should you view the waterfall from? Two-thirds of the falls are on the zimbabwe side and the remaining parts are in Zambia. To be honest, I just hop between the two. Both of them look incredible just make sure you wear a rain jacket because Vic falls is no joke.

4: Argentina Brazil Paraguay Border

The triple frontier as the border is known between Argentina Brazil and Paraguay, is formed by the natural convergence of two rivers the Piranha river and the Iguazu river, this border isn't just a border though it's also a world-famous tourist site you can stand there and say that you've been to all three countries and you can even catch a glimpse of  Tankrido Navas international bridge which connects the Argentinian city of Puerto Iguazu with its Brazilian twin Baz du Iguazu.

Nearby is the famous Iguazu falls so it's well worth the trip to check out this border. Also at the meeting point of the border, all three countries have put up an obelisk painted in each of their national colors, it's quite a sight to behold.

5: Austria-Germany Border

Well, this is definitely a strange border the Jung holes is a village tucked away in the Austrian state of Tyrol that is only accessible via Germany. If you want to get there from the Austrian side then you best get yourself some sturdy hiking boots and get ready to trek 5364 feet over mount Sargshrofen.Yup! guess you'll be driving via Germany then it's a special zone where borders extend in four directions from the summit called a quadripoint, two Germany borders and two Austrian borders meet at that point on the mountain (crazy huh), if you're writing a letter to young hulls you can use either a German or Austrian postcode.
